Florida Panthers (13-14-6) vs Detroit Red Wings (15-16-5) Live | NHL Hockey on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Little Caesars Arena.
The Detroit Red Wings reacted after being challenged by their coach. They are trying to win two wins for the first time in three weeks when the Florida Panthers leave on Saturday afternoon. The Red Wings had lost four in a row (0-3-1) before receiving a great effort from goalkeeper Jonathan Bernier (38 saves) and scoring three unanswered goals for a 4-1 victory over Carolina on Thursday.
“(Coach Jeff Blashill) called us shortly after the last game and we are aware of that,” Detroit striker Dylan Larkin told reporters after extending his score with a goal. “Everyone went ahead and played a solid game on the road.” The Red Wings broke the two-goal deficit to win 4-3 in overtime on October 20 in Florida, scoring for the sixth time in seven games (4-1-2) against the Panthers. Florida won two consecutive games, including a major return to Buffalo on Tuesday to open a four-game trip, before coming to Toronto with a 6-1 loss on Thursday. “We had too many passengers, we tried to complicate the game too much, and we had 20 players working hard against Toronto (4-3 in overtime) winning together,” Panthers coach Bob Boughner said. “(On Thursday) we were just fragmented, we did not have the right mindset.”
