The New York Islanders are looking for their fourth victory in five competitions after finishing Sunday’s four-game trip against the Dallas Stars. New York beat Detroit in a home shootout before starting with victories in Colorado and Arizona, but the series stopped with a 4-2 loss to Las Vegas on Thursday.
The Islanders had a 2-0 lead after a period of goals scored by the Calder Trophy winners, Mathew Barzal and Brock Nelson, but they separated and suffered their second defeat against the Golden Knights in nine days. Before the loss, New York had been greedy on the road, allowing a total of four goals in its last three editions, all victories. Dallas managed to finish its four-game losing streak on Saturday by beating Minnesota 2-1 in overtime after wasting an advantage at the end of the third period. Alexander Radulov scored the goal for captain Jamie Benn at 1:58 of the third goal before scoring at 4:50 of the extra session to give the stars his second victory in seven rounds in general.
